Device Agents and Tests

Proactively monitor, configure, troubleshoot, and test network performance

Advanced Testing and Performance Monitoring

The ThousandEyes Device Agent is an ultra-lightweight agent that provides critical insights into network performance, helping ISPs to swiftly diagnose issues related to external services or last-mile connectivity. Deployable on equipment like home routers, it can be integrated easily into existing systems. The Device Agent continuously monitors latency, detects bottlenecks, and tracks disconnections, helping ISPs to ensure reliable service. With customizable speed tests for TCP and UDP protocols to meet specific ISP needs, the Device Agent helps enhance network quality and customer satisfaction.

Gain Visibility Across the Last Mile and Beyond

The Device Agent provides last-mile monitoring capabilities for ISPs, arming them with the tools they need to identify whether issues originate from internal problems in the home or external network factors.

Proactively Monitor Network Performance, Without Impacting User Experience

The Device Agent testing schedule can be adapted according to customers’ typical Internet usage to minimize interfering with the end users’ experience—intelligently performing tests during low-usage periods, such as overnight or when the network is idle.

Configure and Trigger Tests Remotely

ISPs can configure Device Agents remotely, allowing them to adjust test parameters without needing physical access to customers' devices. On-demand testing can be initiated by ISPs for real-time diagnostics and troubleshooting.

Upgrade Existing CPE With Device Agent

The Device Agent provides all the features of the Whitebox with the added convenience of being downloadable via a firmware upgrade to existing customer-premises equipment (CPE). This makes it a more cost-effective solution for service providers to deploy test agents across their network at scale without the need for installation engineers. Furthermore, the Device Agent can test speeds exceeding 1Gbps.

Lightweight, Efficient Software Facilitates Deployment

The Device Agent runs efficiently with a minimal footprint and can be embedded in a wide range of customer-premises equipment, mesh Wi-Fi solutions, and other consumer networking devices. With 60+ device integrations already available, ISPs can deploy the Device Agent quickly. And because the Device Agent supports OpenWRT, OpenSync, Qualcomm's QSDK, RDK-B, PRPL, and other networking frameworks, it can be set up and deployed with ease.
